
Scotia is a trans screenwriter from Kentucky. She has taught English in South Korea, been electrocuted in a Mayan pyramid, and ordered off the three-złoty menu at a McDonald’s in Poland. She now lives in Los Angeles without a car.
Her characters include a night-shift mortuary technician, a kitchen manager whose crew is dead, and a cat who is mayor. They all have jobs to do.

For years, the mayor of Kuluk, Alaska, a village of 94 people, has been a cat named Augustus. When the state orders the town relocated because the permafrost under it is melting, a nine-year-old accidentally becomes his legally binding successor.
